The Main objectives of the society have been as follows:

• Propagation of information, Education, Research and communication among members of Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga & Naturopathy and Homoeopathy on developmental and Research activities of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy.
• To unify the authors and research scholars of different systems of Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy under one roof to give adequate exposure to share their experience and findings.
• To conduct Seminars, Conferences and workshops at National and international level.
• To publish important Medical Literatures and Reference books on Indian Systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy in English and Tamil.
• To generate funds through subscription, donation, advertisement charges, grants / contribution from State Government and Govt. of India and other philanthropists to develop Indian systems of Medicine and Homoeopathy.
• To affiliate, co-operate association with anybody or any other similar professional association or society, local or provincial or of all India character in order to promote the objectives of the Association.

Initially in the year 2000 around 653 Doctors were the participation members of the society. Now the list of members is enlarged with 1865 members. The Journal was primarily planned to be published quarterly but due to financial constraint thus met with some interference in the mid-way.

The Expenditure for the establishment of the society and the publication of the Journal is mainly met with the interest of the corpus fund & few advertisements. The administration of the society is governed by the Executive Committee duly elected by the General body of the members.

So far the society has brought out 22 issues. A lot of Scholars belonging to Siddha, Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga & Naturopathy and Homoeopathy are documenting and sharing their experience through this Journal. Many of them belong to education and research institute of the above faculties.

Now Thiru. S. Ganesh, IAS by virtue of his position as Director of Indian Medicine and Homoeopathy is the patron of the society. The following IAS officers were the Patron of the Society and contributed a lot for the betterment of the functioning of the society as follows:

The Society is taking utmost care to send the copy of each publication to the members immediately after it is published. We regret that a lot of copies of the Journal sent by post is returned due to the non- availability of the address, who were retired and failed to convey the society their present address after the retirement.

The Editor & Executive Editor and other components of Editorial Board were nominated by Executive Body. The Society feel honoured to issue the certificate for the writers of articles by receiving from the teaching, scientific, research and practitioner of various Medical faculties.

The Journal of Indian Medicine & Homoeopathy is the only large publication of Traditional Medical Science disseminating knowledge & experience of the Medical facilities to whole India from the South. Getting good articles from the scientific writers is an arduous work and our Editorial board is serving this purpose successfully.

We are pleased to inform that any doctors working in State / Central Medical Services / Members in the Scientific Bodies / statutorily recognized Private Medical Institutions can enroll as a member by paying a lifetime registration fee of Rs.1020/- (one thousand twenty only). We wish to increase the membership for the success of the Journal.
